My Reputation Precedes Me You feel like I’m safe, I’m a sinner A conscious mistake made just for fuck’s sake I was born a straight faced grinner And I’ll let you bend before you break You might be right when you say (ch) I’m a loser I’ve heard it before I’m a failure I’ll fail some more I’m a liar You’re common response: (I told you as much) What the hell? What the fuck? We’re all on a path of destruction A journey of sorts without romance of course where we all undervalue instruction you’ll regret what you didn’t do, so fuck remorse Be it pleasure, be it pain I’m still the easiest to blame (ch2) I’ll admit, I’m a loser I’ve heard it before. I’m a failure We’re all liars but we have much more fun under the gun You feel like I’m safe, I’m a sinner. A conscious mistake made just for fuck’s sake. It’s Not Rocket Science Is it time to keep character and let it go? I’ve been low, more than you know If you notice then enjoy the show (ch) Welcome to the universe defined by me We’re all abused here but you look like you need some sleep My hypothesis, tell me if you agree, that you know when you grow tired, you’re growing tired of me Hey, is it new enough still to make your escape? Now that we’ve got nothing to say, there’s nothing left and you’re already so far away? (ch) (br) (Is there something that I’m missing?) Like a savior starving for attention you’ve done nothing that bears a mention but add confusion to condescension when you say, Is there something that I’m missing? Lines in the Road Where the fuck is the green grass? I’ve been around this town to every underpass and searched to the best of my ability The best I can hope for now is the ground under the leaves under my feet (ch) So let it be known, I’m coming home to the lines in the road where I belong I found myself on a long drive over county lines Let it be known Down here the enemy is just the passing time and maydayers and naysayers are no friends of mine Our darkest days turn into brightest nights and soon enough you find, they’re the best times of your life and it’s your life. (ch) (br) It’s easy to forget the exact time we died But harder to forget the reasons why You won’t find me raising flags of solid white With the four famous last words ‘at least we tried’ (ch x2) So where the fuck is the green grass? The Business 03:18
The Business Get me out of this business The posters never showed this I’ve learned to drink and fuck and be down on my luck, be happy where I’m stuck It comes on like a disease without antibodies A habit full of hypocrisies in a moment you seize (ch) It’s only logical, the more we fight we fold And run back to a time our heads, our hearts were full of the times we stole no understanding the ever-expanding hole We don’t matter to the kids anyway. For that matter who’s to say what matters more than making today matter to me? So rate us on a scale of who gives a fuck It’s been long enough Ten years and ten million beers I’d say we’re happy where we’re stuck It’s our luck (ch) No understanding the ever-expanding, all-demanding, crash landing But it’s this hole that makes us whole Get me out of this business, the posters never showed this. Long Island Sound I believe you are the light that’s on the sea that I’m chasing down in a ship ready to sink but if there’s one thing we learn it don’t pay to be discreet (ch) You are the furthest thing from the here and now But you’re still here at the edge of the Long Island Sound I’ve been here just watching you disappear Every last goodbye is music to my ears I was watching you turn into everything you hate But if there’s one thing we learn the best mistakes are all worth the wait (ch) (br) Run it down Another light at open sea Run it down Another heart used sparingly (ch) I believe you are the light that’s on the sea that I’m chasing down in a ship ready to sink. But if there’s one thing we learn, it don’t pay to be discreet. You are the furthest thing from the here and now, but you’re still here at the edge of the Long Island Sound. I’ve been here just watching you disappear. Every last goodbye is music to my ears. I was watching you turn into everything you hate. But if there’s one thing we learn, the best mistakes are all worth the wait. Run it down, another light at open sea. Run it down, another heart used sparingly.
